EEG Testing Is Covered by OHIP
No out-of-pocket cost for eligible Ontario residents
Medically necessary EEG testing is covered for patients with valid OHIP coverage and a physician’s referral.
What to Expect During Your EEG
Prepare
Arrive with clean, dry hair and avoid hair products. Follow any sleep-deprivation instructions provided.
Get Set Up
A technologist measures your head and gently places small electrodes on your scalp. This is painless.
Relax During the Test
Rest comfortably while your brain activity is recorded. You may be asked to open and close your eyes, breathe deeply, or view flashing lights.
Finish & Follow Up
The electrodes are removed and you can return to your usual activities. Your referring physician will receive the report.
